Margaret M. Connors, Ph.D.

Dr. Connors is a medical anthropologist with over 15 years of experience conducting research, designing research studies, and evaluating research outcomes and interventions. Dr. Connors has consulted on a range of public health topics including asthma interventions, improving AIDS antiretroviral drug therapy adherence, youth-led tobacco and alcohol harm reduction campaigns, and interventions to address ADHD. She has presented and published in the areas of HIV prevention among drug users, transgenders and HIV risk, substance abuse prevention, health and human rights, and environmental education. She has also worked on health issues related to social policies such as the privatization of the prison industry and substance abuse treatment.

In addition to her consulting work, Dr. Connors is Co-Director of an organization that promotes environmental health in urban areas through environmental education and advocacy. In this capacity, she has worked to promote policy changes that include the West Nile virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis prevention; the public health implications of pesticides and sewage sludge applications; and the implementation of the Massachusetts Child and Family Protection Act, aimed at monitoring and reducing pesticides in school settings.

Dr. Connors received her doctorate in Medical Anthropology from University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
